National futsal team to compete in 2012 Asia Cup

The Indonesian national futsal team is ready to compete in the 2012 Asia Cup in Dubai, which will run from May 25 to June 1.

"We began training in April. Our team is ready to compete and to do their best in Dubai," said Hendra Nazir, the national team's assistant coach, on Monday, as quoted by kompas.com.

Indonesia is scheduled to play its first match, against China, on May 25. They will also face off against Kuwait and Uzbekistan, the latter are expected to be the national team's toughest challenge, as they were the runners up in the 2010 Asia Futsal Cup.

"We hope we can at least win against China. We will rely on counterattacks when going up against them," said Simanjuntak, the national team's manager.

Coach Andri Irawan said he will take his team to Dubai on Monday night.
